I bought two 4 port Muscle Brakes for a couple of 338 LM builds I did, one of these was for myself. The brake works fantastically it tames the recoil from a 300 grain Scenar with a muzzle velocity of 2,800 fps down to something closer to a 308 or 243. The recoil estimates are from other people who have shot the gun.

Thank you for a well designed and built brake. The brake makes shooting the 338 LM light enough for me a guy with three total rebuilds on the recoil shoulder to shoot 30 rounds in a day and have no pain the day after.

Keep up the good work,

Wade

My buying experience with Jim was terrific! A few months ago I purchased two three-port Muscle Brakes from Jim and had the two brakes installed on a .308 Win and a .338 Fed barrel for my Savage Striker specialty pistol. I took the gun out today for her 'baptismal' shooting session (with the .308 barrel installed) and the recoil reduction performance of the Muscle Brake was simply superlative!

I would recommend Jim's product in a heart-beat, without hesitation!

Gary

Jim my rifle is shooting very well, I shot quite a bit two weeks ago. I drove out to the farm in Kansas, and it was averaging a lil over 2" at 703 and a lil over 4" at 1010 I'm very pleased with the results! Thanks again Jim

Jim,
Hey I wanted to take a moment and thank you for the job on the savage! Completely and totally awesome, for lack of better words! This rifle shoots like nothing else I have ever had! Wow…wow…wow… is this great. Your assistance with the caliber choice was unbelievable. 6.5x47 Lapua is the bomb. Thanks for helping me out while I was deployed. Through email communication you stuck by and dealt with delay after delay. I really appreciate it. I have some photos to send but waiting to get out to the range. .5"... ha... I have got better and I can do it with 123 gr Sierra's... 130 Bergers... and 142 Sierra match!

Harvey H.

Jim,

Shot a 300 yard four shot group last night that was .700 c to c. With three in .450.
That is with the 142 smk 51.5 g H-4831 sc.
Thanks your the best!

Paul W.

Jim,

All I can say is...WOW!!! Broke it in as you said. First load I made was 142SMK/46.0gr H4831sc/Fed210M/RP brass/.008 off the lands. First cold bore shot was a little high and left, 2-4 went into a ragged hole. Measured with OnTarget, the whole group went into .69moa/atc.197moa, and without the cold bore shot the group went down to .275moa/atc.098moa. You are the man, thanks again! Will let you know how things progress.

Will

Jim,

This is a 3 shot group I shot this morning. The distance was 900 yards and was the first time I have ever shot that far. It was from the 7mm SAUM that you built for Jim Hurst. I am shooting 162gr. Hornady AMax bullets in front of 67.0gr of H1000 powder with Federal Gold Medal match primers, and plain old Remington brass (weight sorted only). The scope is a Leupold 6.5x20x40 EFR with Holland ART reticle. Great gun. Thanks again.

Robert F.

Jim,

I hope you had a great vacation and caught some fish. I again want to thank you for meeting me on a Sunday to pick up my XP. It looks great. Your work is second to none, and I hope to deal with you again soon. Thanks again

Rob

5/8/10
Jim has done work on several of my guns. The most recent one is a Remington Sendero 300win. The gun was bedded, crown recut, 3port brake installed, adjustable cheek piece added, trigger job, lugs lapped, base, rings installed and lapped and the scope mounted. I am in the process of completing load development on the Sendero – Target below is 6 shots at 100 yards – includes the first fowling shot. 79gr H-1000 powder, CCI 250mag primers, Remington brass and Berger 185vld hunting bullets .03 off the lands. Always start low and work your way up with powder charges – this is a published max load – did not show pressure signs in my rifle.

Jim is currently building two rifle for me. The first is a Remington 700 in .223 the other is a Remington 700 in 300 win mag . Both guns will wear Brux barrels, cera koted, trigger work, bedded, blue printed, picitanny bases, rings(lapped) and scopes mounted. The 300 will sit in a Bell+Carlson Medalist Weatherby style stock, the 223 will be set back in its HS precision stock with an adjustable cheek piece.

My buddy has also had Jim work on several of his guns. He shares the same thoughts I do regarding Jim.

To make a long story short we both live just outside of Minneapolis. I know there are several good gunsmiths in my area. The two of us are so confident in Jims work that we are willing to drive 7 hours round trip to meet with Jim, drop parts off and pick guns up – 4 trips in 6 months. He always takes the time to work with us to make sure we get exactly what we need. He is great to work with and is a true craftsman.

Peter

Jim,

Just a quick update on my HS Precisions rifle you worked on. I tried H4831 as you advised, using Sierra 180 gr. spbt (to save money), increasing each load in .5 gr. increments and using standard LR primers. I shot at 100 yds. My expectations were low, but I felt required to try after your bedding work. Here's the results:
66.5 - 1.3"
67.0 - 1.4"
67.5 - .550"
68.0 - .346"
68.5 - .778"
69.0 - 1.4"

These were 3 shot groups. This is the first time this rifle ever showed a trend that suggested some kind of inherent accuracy (you clearly were dead on about the rifle's bedding problem). Thanks again for the quality work and solid advice! We'll be talking again in the near future.

Dave

Jim, I just wanted to drop you a line on where she's at. 69 grains RE-22, Fed 215, 110 Accubond running at 3455 average is producing well under 1/2 MOA at 300 yards. This has been tested by 3 different shooters with one being a 15 year. He is very excited to use it for the up coming youth hunt as I am for him. Then it will go to Colorado for 2nd season as my packing gun.

Thanks, Dave

Jim I can not say enough about the quality of the work you do. I am a machinist that doesnt have time to do any machining at this time. The 338 Win Mag factory barrel I sent you for a muscle brake shot extremely well before I sent it to you and shoots exactly the same now.The brake works so well on my wifes 338WSM Benchmark barrel that she thinks it joyful to shoot.Thank you and keep up the good work.

Jim I sent my Tikka 308 to you for accurizing. Finally got to the range today and these are my results. Let me just say the gun shoots far better than I do. Very pleased with my rifle, and you have a life long customer. Thanks again

Jim K.

Hello Jim,

I recently purchased and had your muscle brake installed. I put the brake on a savage model 12 in .270 wsm. Prior to the install there was no way to shoot this rifle with free recoil as it had fairly sharp and quick recoil with some muzzle jump as well. It was just a bit more than I wanted to hang onto for extended range time.

Since the brake install the rifle is definitely a “pussycat” to shoot and easy to control with the added benefit of no backblast whatsoever! I have fired other rifles equipped with muzzle brakes but most had an unpleasant backblast which in itself can lead to a dreaded flinch. Now becoming comfortable with this rifle has led me to a .194” group on my second 3 shot load development. Thanks again for a well designed product that actually does just what it was supposed to do with no hype whatsoever.

Cordially,
Chris P.

Jim

Yes the pics of the .308 came thru. I think it looks awesome. It looks as if it shoots great too.

I can't wait to get there and see it in person. I'm already planning my next build for you.

Thank you,
Greg W.

Jim,

I just wanted to say thanks for going the extra mile on my brake. I appreciate it. If you don't see some work from me directly you can be sure I'll be sending a friend to you. Either way you'll get some work as a result of our transaction. There really are only a couple of you guys out there that really care and now I know your one of them.

Thanks,

John M.

Jim-

Finally got out and shot the 6 BR. and as you can see it shoots great!!! Thanks again. Chris K.

Jim

Yes, Its here. It came on friday.

I went through the break in procedure on Friday night and Saturday. Last night I put 4 rounds in 1 hole at 200 yards. I moved to 400 yards and shot. The grouping was fantastic. The rifle is definitely a shooter.

Thanks for doing a great job. Greg W.

Hey Jim,

Rifle looks awesome you did a great job, got it in today at dinner. If I ever have any more smith work done it will definitely go to you.

Thanks again for doing a great job.

Nathan

Jim- (Note, Rifles were factory and accurized at Center Shot.)

I got them in last week, I got the chance to shoot them, and my .308 shot MUCH better! Using factory ammunition, I shot 5 rounds. The first one was about an inch off of the rest, but the other 4 were .6" center to center from each other!! I can't wait to start working on a hand load for this rifle now. The other gun was shooting about .7", but the wind was picking up and it was more than likely the shooter not the gun. Thanks again!

Brian

Hey Jim,

The triggers just arrived. Thank you so much. I like the beer sleeve also, I'm sure it'll get used this weekend (campin'/bear hunting). Hopefully the cards will come in handy sooner than later. Once again I can't say how much I appreciate this. God bless.
